After upgrading, institutions can support Wallet payments in both Mainland China and Hong Kong without having to modify their codes. This allows them to consolidate their statements for these two regions.
Overseas merchants directly linked to WeChat Pay can upgrade the service independently. overseas institutions and service providers must sign up to apply
Only overseas merchants can upgrade to Multi-Wallet
Merchants with Hong Kong Wallet can apply for a new merchant ID on the Multi-Wallet platform and then use the Multi-Wallet merchant ID to receive payments in both CNY and HKD.
As long as they follow the instructions in this Guide, they will not have to modify their code to use both Wallets.
The merchants can make Hong Kong Wallet transactions after receiving the upgrade successful email. This email is usually sent the next day.
The rate is the same as the overseas rate.
A single consolidated statement is issued for the two Wallets, which includes both HKD and CNY transactions.
In the statement, transactions with the value CNY in the payment currency field are for the Mainland China Wallet and those with the value HKD are Hong Kong Wallet transactions.
When Mainland China Wallet merchants use Multi-Wallet for transactions, product prices can be listed in HKD and CNY. When Hong Kong Wallet merchants use Multi-Wallet, the product prices must be in HKD.
After a payment in CNY, the system recommends the user follow the original Official Account configured by the overseas merchant. After a Hong Kong Wallet payment, no Official Account is recommended.
After upgrading to Multi-Wallet, the statement may contain transactions in two different currencies, so the statement does not provide a total transaction amount, total refund amount, or total number of transactions.
Orders can take the following statuses:
To be paid
Payment completed
Refund in the payment
Transaction closed
Withdrawn
App Payment
Mini Program Payment
Quick Pay (by merchant)
QR Code Payment (by user)
Official Account Payment
See the figure below: The institution must apply for an ID for merchants with Hong Kong Wallet only before registering them. Registering merchants with Hong Kong Wallet only using the original merchant ID will disable the transaction permissions of these merchants through risk control.
This depends on the situation: 1. Direct link mode: The merchant must have activated either Hong Kong Wallet or Mainland China Wallet (select industry categories for one Wallet). 2. Service provider mode: The service provider must have activated both Wallets, and sub-merchants can activate either Hong Kong Wallet or Mainland China Wallet (select industry categories for one Wallet). 3. Institution mode: If the institution has activated one Wallet, sub-merchants must use one Wallet (select only industry categories for one Wallet). If the institution has both Wallets, sub-merchants must use both Wallets (select only industry categories for both Wallets).
1.Three types of statements are available: overall statement, successful payment statement, and refund statement. 2.The refund statement has two new fields: Refund apply time and Refund complete time. 3.The statement format and fields are consistent whether you obtain the statement via API or download it from the platform. For detailed field descriptions, refer to: Multi-Wallet Statement Field Descriptions
The institution and its sub-merchants must enable Multi-Wallet permissions.
Sub-merchants cannot apply for Multi-Wallet until the service provider completes the upgrade process.
