●For sub-merchants who wish to use cross-border funds-distribution, what do institution/service providers need to prepare in advance?
To activate cross-border funds-distribution permissions for sub-merchants on the WeChat Pay Merchant Platform, institution/service providers must prepare the sub-merchants' KYC documents and Sub-merchant’s Application and Commitment for Activating Funds-Distribution Service. See Preparation Before Access (3.1 Scenario 1) for details.
Institution/service providers can formally sign contracts and activate permissions for sub-merchants. These can be done on the WeChat Pay Merchant Platform.
●What do institution/service providers need to prepare in advance to make an enterprise or individual user a receiver?
First of all, prepare the contract materials for the cooperation, application for adding funds-distribution and introduction of main business. See Preparation Before Access(3.2. Scenario 2) for details. Please ensure that the documents meet the requirements (e.g. entity description, seal, signature, etc.).
If the receiver is a domestic enterprise, prepare the Merchant ID: Institution/service providers can ask enterprises to activate a Direct Merchant ID on the Overseas WeChat Pay on their own. Institution/service providers can also apply to become overseas service providers to centrally manage all enterprise receivers. In such cases, the enterprises will be considered special merchants of a domestic service provider and their Merchant IDs can then be used for funds-distribution.
If the receiver is an individual user, a balance account and the OPENID must be prepared: Balance accounts can be activated directly in the personal WeChat. OPENID is a unique user ID in the APPID. WeChat can locate unique users based on their APPID and OPENID and help them receive funds using their personal balance accounts. Institution/service providers can get a user's OPENID through website app, mini programs, official account, and app.
●Is it possible to try cross-border funds-distribution in a test environment before activation?
The WeChat Pay has yet to provide a test environment to try cross-border funds-distribution. There are institution/service providers and merchants who have successfully accessed and used cross-border funds-distribution. The institution/service providers and sub-merchants can try the product by themselves after activation.
