Definitions of Terms

1. WeChat Official Accounts Platform

This platform allows users to apply for and manage their Official Accounts. Merchants can apply for activating WeChat Pay features on this platform by submitting the required information and documents.

2. WeChat Open Platform

This platform allows merchants to apply for integrating their Apps with WeChat Pay open APIs to realize In-APP Pay via WeChat.

3. WeChat Merchant Platform

This platform allows merchants to perform WeChat Pay-related operations such as parameter configuration, query and aggregation of payment data, online refund, and voucher or discount configuration.

4. WeChat Pay System

This system consolidates the elements involved in the WeChat Pay workflow, such as APIs, backend system, accounting system, and callback notification system.

5. Merchant POS System

This system allows merchants to perform such operations as product information entry, order generation, receipt of payments, and sales slip printing. integration with the WeChat Pay features involves the development and test of the POS software system. Therefore, any reference to Merchant POS System below refers to POS software system.

6. Merchant Backend System

This system is merchant's business system that consolidates merchant website, POS system, inventory management system, delivery system, and customer service system.

7. Code Scanner

This refers to an input device used to quickly read and decode the image data of a barcode or QR code provided by a medium. Code scanners can be categorized into barcode scanner and QR code scanner by code types, or infrared scanner and laser scanner by how it works.

8. Merchant Certificate

This refers to a WeChat-provided binary file that is used as a merchant's credential for the WeChat Pay backend server to verify the merchant identity when the merchant system initiates a request to communicate with the WeChat Pay backend server.

9. Signature

This is a string generated by the merchant and WeChat Pay backend systems with the same key pair and algorithm for authenticating the identities of both sides. The signature algorithm is developed and published by WeChat Pay. The common signature methods include MD5, SHA1, SHA256, HMAC, and RSA.

10. JSAPI Webpage Pay

This is also known as Official Account Pay, which involves the following steps: a user opens a merchant's HTML5 page by tapping the page link in an Official Account, Moments or a chat, or by scanning the address QR code for the page using WeChat, then places an order and makes the payment on the page./p>

11. Native Pay

This is also known as QR Code Pay, which involves the following steps: a user scans the merchant's QR code generated in the format as agreed in the WeChat Pay Service Agreement to enter the payment page, and then enters the password to make the payment.

12. Payment Password

This password is set separately by a user when the user activates WeChat Pay, and is used to authorize and confirm the payment transaction. It is different from the WeChat login password.

13. Openid

Openid is a unique identifier of a user within an Official Account, and varies with different Official Accounts. A user's openid can be obtained at the merchant's backend system through the APIs "Login Authorization", "Payment Notification", and "Order Query". It is mainly used to identify a user when the system sends customer service and template messages or other messages to the user. An Enterprise WeChat Account user needs to convert the enterprise members' userids to openids using the API "Convert Enterprise WeChat Account Userid to Openid".
