WeChat Pay supports linking with merchants and institutions.

Institution: WeChat Pay works with overseas institutions by signing an agreement with such institutions. Users can make payments with WeChat Pay at the merchants affiliated to the institutions. In this mode, no agreement is signed between WeChat Pay and merchants, and fund settlement is made between WeChat Pay and institutions, which are responsible for transferring the funds to the affiliated merchants. A total of 60 countries/regions outside Mainland China are supported.

Direct Merchant: WeChat Pay works with overseas merchants by signing an agreement directly with such merchants. The fund settlement is made between WeChat Pay and merchants. Only the merchants in Hong Kong are supported.

As of Jan 30, 2024, 72 countries/regions (in addition to mainland China) are supported.

The qualification requirements for institutions vary depending on the laws/regulations of different countries/regions. The specific requirements can be found on the application page.

WeChat Pay will complete the review and approval of your application within 7-15 days after the submission of application, and notify you of the result by email.

You can click "Join Us" ->"If you've applied, click to check your application status on the home page", and check the application progress with the email address you entered when you applied for merchant ID.

Login in to the WeChat Pay Open Platform using your account registered with the platform, and go to "Account Setting" -> "Agreement" to download the agreement.

Any registered institution which is qualified as an acquirer for the merchants in another country/region can email to wxpayglobal@tencent.com an application along with the qualification documents applying to the requested country/region. Upon the approval of WeChat Pay, such institution can provide acquiring service in the requested country/region.

I、Login

Please log on to the Wechat Pay International business page：

II. Apply the sub-merchant

Please select “Institution”，and click”+Apply

III. Upload the information

Please input the accurate information as requested and the blank with red* is required fields. If the channer partner exists, please enter the channel number.

IV. Submission

After all the information uploaded, please click “submit” on the confirmation page.

The tips will confirm it is a successful submission and it will be reviewed quickly.

V. Check sub-merchant

All the sub-merchants are available to be checked in the application list. Click ”detail” to show more information.

Registered institutions and merchants can modify and update their account information on the WeChat Pay Merchant Platform. The merchant information includes the company address, industry, registration certificate, acquiring country/region, principal, contact person, and other information.

WeChat Pay does not support modifying entity name. If necessary, please apply for a new merchant ID using the new entity name.

Any registered institution can add channel partners by logging in to the platform, selecting "Channel Partner" under "Institution", clicking apply, and then submitting the required documents of the channel partner.
