Introduction

Fuji-Q Highland, a famous amusement park in Japan, is located near the Mount Fuji. With multiple world-recorded amusement facilities, including the most fastest roller coaster with a maximum falling drop height and the most terrifying theme haunted house in the world, Fuji-Q has 15 Guinness World Records, known as the most exciting amusement park in the world.

In the past, for Chinese tourists, Fuji-Q was only deemed as an amusement park to provide services only, and no connection existing between them. As a result, most Chinese tourists came only once and had no way of knowing the latest theme, activities, and new facilities. This is, beyond question, unfavorable for Fuji-Q to increase market penetration and transaction among tourists. Different languages and payment habits also harm user experience. To experience amusement facilities and meet their dining needs in the day, Chinese tourists have to take cash/coins and wait in a long queue for buying tickets. These would greatly ruin Chinese tourists' experience who hope to relax and enjoy amusement.

Challenges Faced

To solve the previous problems, Fuji-Q decided to introduce WeChat Pay, WeChat Official Account, and WeChat Mini Program.
On July 19, 2018, Fuji-Q linked WeChat Pay to the entire park, making it the first foreign flagship smart amusement park of WeChat Pay. As all amusement facilities and stores that offer food and beverage support WeChat Pay, Chinese tourists can have fun in the park only with a mobile phone, saving the efforts to take cash and coins.

Solutions & Results

Besides, Fuji-Q introduced its WeChat Official Account and the "Fuji-Q Ticket Booking" Mini Program, which served as a bridge between Fuji-Q and Chinese visitors to Mount Fuji.

· By following the Official Account, users will receive the latest information on tourism, discount, and travel guide. They can also ask about the tourism information around Mount Fuji by sending messages in the Official Account to make a travel plan in advance.

· With the "Fuji-Q Ticket Booking" Mini Program, Chinese tourists can buy tickets, get guide in Chinese, check waiting time for amusement facilities, receive targeted information posts online, and enjoy other smart services. This breaks the language barrier and greatly saves tourists' queue time.

With the above solutions based on WeChat ecosystem, a long-time integration between Fuji-Q and Chinese tourists is established, and the user satisfaction is also raised. What's more, through the WeChat social platform, Chinese tourists may share related discount information of Fuji-Q with relatives and friends. This helps the promotion of Fuji-Q in Chinese market, bringing more repeated visits and attracts more potential customers.
